Well, this opera season, I found out when it is that you can have actual food at the Face Bar...if, by some chance, you get to Central City an hour or so before the performance, FB does actually serve food. That said, the service SUCKS in that ugly, pink dining room. We had to practically stand on our heads to get the attention of our waitress and even then, she was totally uninterested in serving us. We wound up with another server who was more attentive but the attitude was just amazing. We ordered a salad and some fries- the salad was an entree salad which turned out to be excellent but she literally told us when we ordered it that she wasn't sure if the kitchen could execute it in time for us to make the performance. Um, the opera house is NEXT DOOR and you can't make a salad and some fries in less than 20 minutes? Also, it would have been nice if the option existed to get plain fries as opposed to truffle. These were just saturated in truffle oil. But the salad was excellent. Really good. I just wish we could say as much for the ambiance and service! I don't understand why they will not fix this place. They could and should be making a lot more money, given that they are the only reputable restaurant in town.

In a town where you can get free alcohol for gambling, I'd expect more from a legit bar. The only reason this bar is worthwhile is the artistic creation by Herndon Davis located in the middle of the bar floor. $5 Guinness are ok but stay away from the onion-ring appetizer. I'm not sure what Green Goddess sauce is, but it tastes like the upheaval from the not-so-jolly green giant after a hard night out at the real bars. Don't go for the food, and since you can get free alcohol while gambling, i wouldn't really go for the alcohol. The only reason to visit this bar is to check out the artwork on the floor which is part of American past. Today it'd be considered graffiti, but back in the day, it earned the man a free drink. Also of interest are the 10 muses, each of which have a flaw to test your awareness.

What a disappointment. I've been to a number of Kevin Taylor restaurants before, and with a few exceptions, the quality of the food, service and atmosphere has always been good. Not with this one. The service was the best part of the place, although it had to be a bit depressing to wait tables in a place that's 3/4 empty. The food options were limited, which is not a problem for me - I'd prefer there be fewer choices with better food. The food itself was bland and uninteresting: I had a pork sandwich and my Wife had a salad. The plating was, really, nothing (I know that may seem petty, but really, for a Kevin Taylor resturant I would expect a minimal effort. We got nothin, just a sandwich and fries dropped on a plate. It could have been from Denny's, except Denny's usually has a garnish). My wife got a bland house wine for $9.00. We skipped the dessert. About the only thing going for it is the proximity to the Opera, but in the future we'll just get to town earlier and eat elsewhere. As for the Bar itself, that's perfectly fine. I'd say skip any and all food there, and then go to the Après Opera performances (they're free!) and get a drink. The drinks and the bartender were just fine.

I guess that it was my fault for expecting this to be a great venue because it is part of the Kevin Taylor restaurant group. All I can say is that the service was truly terrible and the restaurant itself is uninviting and unprofessional. I was planning on having a post-show dessert here but I ended up just having a quick drink and leaving. It is too bad because this place has so much potential because of all of the patrons from the Central City Opera House next door.

Lovely post-opera lunch! Beautiful presentation of food.... plus fresh and delicious! Nice wine. Fab waiter: Charles! ...and manager was friendly and informative with history of the bar. Fascinating. Special afternoon. :-)
